UML Lab and Javadoc

Hello,

I have big problems with Javadoc comments. UML Lab sometimes removes them or moves them to another position (sometimes at places which create compile error) , which is really annoying because commenting code requires a lot of time (currently I first create a backup of a file to secure my comments and copy and paste them back after closing the model). Where is the problem? I turned off "Show comment icons" in the UML Lab preferences.

UML Lab & Refactoring

Hi,
Round-Trip-Engineering is one of most useful aspects of UML Lab. However, I found some problems of using that.
I refactored a design model by moving a method (foo()) from a class to one of its related class. Actually target class is a parameter of the method, which makes this refactoring possible at source code.

I did refactoring at design-level using drag and drop technique (I think it is the only way to do refactoring, if there is another way please let me know). However, during code generation while the method is moved to the target class, its references are not updated which is a big problem.

Please let me know if I need to do any configuration (An example can be very useful).

UML Lab, Refactoring and Javadoc comments

Hi,
I faced a problem using UML lab. My aim is to create a model from Java source code and then refactor the model, and finally writing back the model as source code. However, it seems UML lab does not support comments at source code level.

As an example, if a method is moved from a class to another one, its comment still remains in the first class. The process works correctly if comments are added to the method at design level. However, as mentioned if comments are defined at source code then because they are not supported at design level they are not moved with the method during code sync.

Probably, I miss some things during extracting model from source code. Actually, it seems if I have comments at design level, then every things will be fine.

Create CodeStyle for different List subclasses

I tried to create my own CodeStyle to make UML Lab recognize my LinkedList and ArrayList attributes as one to many referenced (I prefer not to use List attributes because different implementations have different running times for the same methods (e.g. O(n) for access in LinkedList vs. O(1) for ArrayList)).
But your examples did not help me to do that. I tried to override toManyDeclaration in Association.xpt:

«DEFINE toManyDeclaration (ListsStyledElement style, Property partnerRole, Classifier parent) FOR Property»
   «IF !parent.isInterface()»
      private «IF isStatic»static «ENDIF»LinkedList «pluralizeIfNeeded()»;
      
   «ENDIF»
«ENDDEFINE»

But that does not work and - to be honest - I do not really understand it. What else could I do?

I think it shuld work, but I don't know how I can do this. Copy the uml/umlcd to a new Projekt doesn't work ... it find the old code ;-)

Why doesn't it create any association to the MyItem?

This line does:
public MyItem oneItem=new MyItem();

Does UML Labs support Android programming? Creating diagrams for the Dalvik operating system is a little bit different, because of its application lifecylce, with the activity callstack, controlled by 'intents'. If not, does anybody know of any tools out there for that?

Hallo!

Nach dem Umbenennen von Klassen im Source-Code (im konkreten Fall Exceptions) kommt der Generator häufiger durcheinander. Er möchte dann weiterhin Import-Statements und "throws" Anweisungen für die alten Exceptions generieren und merkt, dass es einen Unterschied zum aktuellen Source-Code gibt, weil da auch die neuen Namen schon stehen.

Wie bekomme ich das Diagramm wieder "in sync"? ("Update from classpath" hilft leider nicht...)

Assertion failed

Hallo,

ich hatte zur neuen Version geupdated und mit einem komplett neuen Projekt begonnen und zwei Klassen angelegt. Im Diagramm wollte ich dann eine Assoziation zwischen diesen beiden Klassen einfügen, aber es kam immer nur die Meldung "Assertion failed: " in einem Dialogfenster. Damit konnte ich soweit nicht arbeiten, dass ich wieder zur alten Version gewechselt habe, dort funktionierte es. Im Moment verwende ich Version 1.3.6. Woran kann das liegen?

vor ein paar tagen hab ich mein projekt getestet und alles lief gut, nun hab ich mir UML lab installiert wollte testen und nun gibt es nur noch failures, die fehlermeldung sieht wie folgt aus:

No coverage data file has been written during this coverage session
please make sure that your project does NOT include EMMA

und die konsole sagt
"java.lang.ClassFormatError: Illegal local variable table length 25 in method tests"

ich vermute uml lab nutzt dieses emma?

ich hab schon nach einer aktuellen version gesucht aber die aktuellste ist von 2005 :/

jemand ne idee wie ich das problem lösen kann?

Academic Lizenz für zwei Rechner

Guten Tag,

ich habe eine Studentenlizenz für UMLLab erhalten, sodass ich die Software erfolgreich auf meinem Laptop aktivieren konnte. Nun wollte ich das gleiche auf meinem Desktoprechner tun, wobei die Fehlermeldung "The configured licencense cannot be used: Volume license has depleted" auftauchte.

Ich nehme an, das liegt daran, dass die Lizenz ausschließlich für einen Rechner zur Verfügung steht. Das ist in meinem Fall relativ ärgerlich, da es sehr nützlich wäre, sowohl daheim, als auch unterwegs die Software zu verwenden.

Gibt es vielleicht nicht doch eine Möglichkeit, die Software auf beiden Rechnern zu verwenden?

superclass for JPA1 Entities

I want all of my JPA1 @Entity classes to contain "@Id Long id" and "@Version int version" properties (with setters and getters) and I could either have those generated with the plugin, or exist in a @MappedSuperclass and all @Entity classes extend.

Which option would be considered the "best practice" when diagraming these objects in the class diagram - and how would I best go about making these customizations?

adding attribute if unknown type - unable to recover from error

Hi,

When I add an attribute to a class in the class diagram of an unknown type (for example, I attempted to add "id:Long" without first creating the "java.lang.Long" class in the model), an error appears in the .uml file. After going into the .uml file, deleting the line item for that unknown type, cleaning my Eclipse project and rebuilding, the error remains until I quit Eclipse down completely and restart it.

Upon restarting, the "Progress Information" popup appears with the text: "Operation in progress...", and I'm unable to cancel or close this, nor figure out what it's doing. It never finishes and I have to "kill " my Eclipse process. Restarting the process again usually does the trick, but is definitely not ideal and I worry about the health of my Eclipse projects whenever I have to "kill" anything.

Is there a bug tracker I should be submitting these kinds of details to?

JPA @Embedded and @Embeddable

Is there an easy way to define a "composite" association between two JPA1 entities which will create one as an @Embeddable object to its "parent"? In an effort to duplicate what the example class diagram contains (UML Lab Shop Example), I tried to "Edit Association" from the default "Composition" association line to remove "Navigable" option so that the association mimicked that found in the example, but this still did not produce any @Embeddable object related to the @Entity associated.

Eure Eclipse Update Site http://update.uml-lab.com/ funktioniert wohl leider (noch?) nicht mit der neuen Eclipse Indigo:

Referenzen auf LinkedList im UML Lab

Hello again,

ein wiederkehrendes Problem im UML Lab ist folgendes:

Wenn UML Lab aus folgendem Code ein Diagramm erstellen soll:

private LinkedList(MenuItem) orderItems;

(<,> wird vom HTML Parser verschluckt)

Wird daraus im Diagramm eine Referenz zu LinkedList (siehe Anhang), jedoch keine 1..* referenz zu der Klasse MenuItem.

Gibt man UML Lab im Diagramm eine 1..* Beziehung von Order zu MenuItem vor, generiert er daraus ein Hashset im Code, diese ist jedoch nicht immer brauchbar (z.B. zum Sortieren).

Wie kann man das Problem lösen?

PS: Könntet ihr im Forum vll. eine Einbettung für Quellcode einbinden?

Kommt UML Lab auch für Visual Studio bzw. C#/VB.Net?

Hallo,

da ich über ein Artikel der dotnetpro auf UML Lab gestoßen bin war ich natürlich voller Hoffnung ein gutes UML Tool für VS mit Unterstützung von VB.net bzw. C# zu finden. Wenn ich das richtig gesehen habe richtet sich aber UML Lab (momentan) nur an JAVA-Nutzer. Ist es denn geplant eine Version von UML Lab auch für .Net-Entwickler rauszubringen und, falls ja, wann kann man mit dieser rechnen?
